Registered Physiotherapist
Wendy is the owner of Summerland Physiotherapy and Sports Care. She is originally from Sherwood Park, Alberta and she graduated with distinction from the University of Alberta in 1997. She has been working in Summerland since 2000. She completed the certification program through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute in 2003. She has a special interest in gait analysis and custom orthotic prescription using the Footmaxx System. Most recently she completed training in Vestibular Rehabilitation at the Royal Columbian Hospital in Vancouver. Wendy has attained her Level III distinction in post-graduate manual therapy through the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She is currently on the medical team for the South Okanagan Flames Junior Lacrosse team and Summerland Sting Junior Hockey Team. She has also worked with the Canadian National Freestyle Ski Teams. In her spare time she enjoys softball, traveling, gardening and camping.
Julie
Patan B.Sc.P.T., M.C.P.A.
Registered Physiotherapist
Julie graduated from the physiotherapy program at the University of Alberta in 1990. She moved to Summerland in December 2008 with her husband and family. She recently completed a locum with the Arthritis Services at the Penticton Hospital before joining the team at Summerland Physiotherapy & Sports Care. The first 14 years of her career was with a private orthopedic and sports physiotherapy clinic in Sherwood Park Alberta. Julie has always had an interest in posture assessment and therapeutic exercise which lead her to expand her horizons into rehabilitation pilates. Before moving to Summerland she had the opportunity to teach anatomy, remedial exercise and orthopedic assessment to other health care professionals. Julie is a member of the Penticton Canoe Racing Club and is looking forward to spending time with her family and new friends in the beautiful Okanagan for many years to come!
DeAnna
MacArthur M.Sc.P.T.
Registered Physiotherapist
DeAnna is a recent graduate of the Masters of Science Physiotherapy program at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She is originally from Newfoundland and completed her undergraduate degree in Psychology at Memorial University. She has just relocated to the Okanagan to begin her career at Summerland Physiotherapy & Sports Care. Her other physiotherapy related education includes Level One Acupuncture and courses in Spinal Techniques. She has also challenged her Level One Manual Therapy exam. DeAnna plans to further her education in both acupuncture and manual therapy over the next few years. Her interest include music, theatre, running, hiking and cooking.
Greg
Nield R.M.T.
Registered Massage Therapist
Greg was born and raised in Summerland, BC. After graduating from Summerland Secondary School, he furthered his education at the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in Vernon, BC and has since graduated and become registered with The College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia and The Massage Therapists Association of British Columbia. His training includes a variety of techniques such as neuromuscular therapy, myofascial release, joint mobilization, positional release, muscle energy technique, therapeutic exercise, Swedish massage, cranio-sacral therapy and hydrotherapy. During his spare time he enjoys playing hockey, rock climbing, hiking and camping.
Caithy
Boyle R.M.T.
Registered Massage Therapist
Caithy grew up in Prince George and moved to the Okanagan in 2001 when she began her studies at Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in Vernon. During the three-year program, she was trained in many techniques and modalities including: neuromuscular therapy, Swedish massage, pre- and post-natal massage, hydrotherapy, myofascial techniques, sports massage, muscle energy techniques and joint mobilizations. Since her graduation in 2004, Caithy has taken courses in Systemic Deep Tissue Techniques and plans to take additional post-graduate courses in the coming year. In her spare time Caithy enjoys reading, photography, scrapbooking, and cooking, as well as hiking and traveling. She completed a year long exchange in France with Rotary International when she was 16, and has also visited the U.K. and many other European countries.

Neil Guenther B.Sc., M.D., C.A.F.C.I.
Acupuncture Certification, Medical Doctor
Dr. Neil Guenther joined the staff at Summerland Physiotherapy & Sports Care in August, 2008. He obtained his training in Anatomical and Traditional Chinese Acupuncture at the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. He was born and raised in rural Chilliwack, B.C. and developed an interest in biology at a young age which eventually led him to study at the University of British Columbia where he received his B.Sc. in Zoology. From there, Dr. Guenther entered into the medical program and received his M.D. He then went on to intern in Saskatoon, Sask. Dr. Guenther worked in general practice as a medical doctor in Peachland, Kelowna and finally Summerland during the last 22 years. Dr. Guenther continues to explore his interest in biology, particularly insects and spiders. He also enjoys playing piano and bass guitar and has been involved in various music groups over the years. He is excited to join our clinic and make Traditional Chinese Acupuncture the focus of his services at our facility.

Lisa was born and raised in Summerland. She has been working
at the clinic since 2002. She has a Diploma in Recreation
Management from Cariboo University College and she is BCRPA Certified as
a Group Fitness
Instructor and Personal Trainer. She received her Pilates Certification through
the Physical Mind Institute in Vancouver in 2002. She incorporates use of the
on-site reformer as well as springboard resistance into her Pilates Programs.
She has also been teaching High/Low/Step Aerobics, Boxercise, Circuit-training,
Power Stretch, Seniors Fitness, and Aquasize for the past several years. She
has taught day long workshops on “Senior
Fitness
in a Long-Term Care Facility” as well as “Stress Management for
Caregivers”.
She is currently completing courses to become a Medical Exercise Specialist
and has just received her BOSU certification from Twist Conditioning.
In her
spare time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family at their cabin.

Recently Lisa has been voted "BEST PILATES INSTRUCTOR 2006" by the readers of Okanagan Life magazine.

Carmel
Kachkowski
Office Manager
Carmel grew up in the Lower Mainland and the Okanagan Valley. After graduating from Kelowna Secondary School, she started a family and moved to Prince George where she lived for 8 years. After moving back to the Okanagan in 2004, she joined our staff at Summerland Physiotherapy as an evening receptionist. Since that time Carmel has become our office manager and has plans to further her studies in Administration. Carmel has 3 wonderful children and keeps in shape by taking Pilates from AB:Solution and participating in running and biking clinics.
